I hate watches. I’m telling you man, I always hate how they let me down… and it happened today again! I was supposed to take a friend of mine to the train station, and I got late… you know why? Well, simply put I had supposed my watch was pointing out the right time, and it turns out it wasn’t. That sorry old excuse for a time-tracking device that I keep strapped around my wrist is always winding down late, and as a result I’m always showing up late and disappointing / annoying people.

Well, finally I’ve had it! I decided I’m pulling out some money from my savings account (that’s my old Christmas sock, by the way) and getting myself a decent wrist watch. I’m trying to make up my mind between those hip fossil watches or the more conservative casio watch. I really wouldn’t mind getting both, actually… but I suppose I’m too poor for that. I guess only rich people can afford to own different clocks to compliment their moods. Myself, I’ll be happy when I just get a single decent clock that will keep me informed of the actual time, and maybe that way I’ll eventually shake off my reputation of being late all the time. Oh well, it’s not like time really exists anyway… I mean, right?

It’s funny how people change. When I was a little kid I was fascinated with time-tracking devices, and I always wore a watch even though I couldn’t tell the time. Then as I grew up and approached my teenage years, I decided that watches were a time-based shackle that society forced upon us, so for many years I made a point out of not wearing any kind of wrist watch. Now, as I become a full grown adult, I still think watches can be a prison – but all the while I recognize it can also be a useful one, at that.

Furthermore, I’m getting into the whole concept of watches as a decorative accessory. I was just looking at a bunch of Seiko watches, and that’s certainly a fine piece of machinery. I hate the idea of wearing something just for the status quo, but all the while these little engines look pretty cool! I can almost picture myself pulling my sleeve with a soft but resolute yank of the arm, and going all “oh, you’d like to know the time? surely, I’ll tell you what time it is”. Just too bad I’m not a very swift reader of analog watches… but I think they’re pretty cool nonetheless.

These are the kind of wristwatches that celebrities wear, and moreover it’s the kind of watch that turns anyone into a celebrity of sorts. I mean, those things really exude charisma, would you look at that? I’ve noticed how Seiko seems to be a chosen watchmaker by some of the top artists in the entertainment industry. Just watch out for those wrists and you’ll spot Seiko watches all around. So naturally, if you’re looking for something to jazz up your style while keeping track of time, this might be just what you’re looking for!
