It’s true, dearest readers: even though I may not come across as the green thumb type, I do enjoy my share of gardening in that little bit of land that’s commonly referred to as “the backyard”. Ever since I read this article stating that people could save more than $1000 / year by growing their own vegetables (such as tomatoes, zucchinis, salad greens etc.), I figured… why not give it a try? And as it turns out, growing food is actually quite an engaging and fascinating activity. I’m still learning my way around the garden, to be honest, but I’m actually very much fascinated with the concept of watching vegetables sprout from the earth and grow a little bit each passing day.

You know… even though vegetable gardening is quite amazing – it can also get tricky, when it comes to dealing with pests: you usually got to choose between growing healthy-looking vegetables that are soaked in chemicals, or crummy-looking, pest-ridden vegetables that are actually healthy. Unless of course, you’re clever enough to go green, and use a form of organic pest control. This is actually simpler than I thought, the whole “going green” with the garden greens… just a matter of choosing the right products, and finding a middle ground between doing pest control and growing biologic food. Now it’s just a matter of waiting to enjoy the fruits (rather the veggies) of my work!
