Today I’ve been thinking about Cosmetic Surgery in general, and about some people’s manifest need to feel prettier than they (think they) are. I think the subject of beauty is highly subjective, and all the while I cannot help but feeling that some people get too carried away in such an elusive pursuit.

I mean, I really enjoy thinking of beauty as something that comes naturally when people find room in their hearts to accept themselves just the way they are. It may sound like a foolish reasoning, but that’s just an opinion, anyway! I don’t mean to imply that people who choose to perfect their bodies are unwise… after all if science permits doing such a thing, why not take advantage from that? In fact, if you’re curious about cosmetic surgery, the website I linked in the beggining of this post will provide you with good background information.

There’s just something I’d really like to invite all my readers to think about: rather than keep trying to change who you are or how you look like, why not try to accept yourself just the way you are? If you succeed in doing such a thing, you’ll get instantly happy, so everything else will feel pretty much like an added bonus!

Don’t you hate it when you say something stupid when you’ve had a couple of beers, and all your friends make fun of you? Aw, come on – no need to pretend, I know for sure everyone has the occasional slip up. It’s just one of those things… you’re sitting on a table with your friends, everyone is laughing and having fun talking about Europe and Italy and rome events… and then you happen to make a dumb remark about how you love those cool Gondolas. Sure, your friends could just point out that Gondolas are traditional in Venice, not in Rome. But that’s not really how it works, right? Needless to say, from that point onwards I was referred to as the Gondolian Jester. Well, whatever. I maintain that everyone has the occasional slip up. I just mix up words a lot, that’s all.

Anyway, after being ridiculed by all of my close, dear friends… I just feel like running away to Europe and make new friends. In fact, I’m already looking for some rome italy accommodation, and in fact I’ve come across some classy rome italy hotels in my research. So it’s arrivederci America, I guess!

… ha, who I’m I kidding. Even if I ran to Europe and started a new life, I’d probably run back to America after being mocked by all my European friends for saying something stupid like “Obama is the best Republican president in a long time”. I just mix up words a lot, that’s all… it might be a rare form of verbal dyslexia. Also, I might as well face it, I certainly tend to say a lot of stupid things – that’s just how I roll. Love me or hate me baby, there’s not much I can do about it, it’s just the way I am.

Man, how time flies by! I always remember the old saying “the hours go by slowly, but years go in a blur”. You see, my oldest niece’s birthday is just around the corner, so like the good uncle I am I’m scouring the Internet looking for a good last-minute present. Well, so far I’m thinking about getting her a hip wristwatch, kind of like those ESQ watches. I think it’s got a classic-future kind of thing going on, and she’ll definitely enjoy it, like the tasteful teenager that she is.

Which brings us to the point, which is precisely her age! You see, while I was distracted picking the perfect clock from the online catalog, the thought/realization suddenly dawned, of exactly how old was my niece : 17, can you believe it?! Lol, this may sound like a silly rant, but truth of the matter is that I still think of myself as a grown-up in process (I’ve barely completed my third decade, here) – and to realize my own little niece is fast approaching the last few of her teenage years… wow, it’s the kind of thing that just makes you go all like “now, those years certainly go by in a blur”.

And you know what’s the funny thing about it? You try to just sit in the same place for one hour, and see how that goes. Just sit there; no magazines, computers, PDA or Internet. Just sitting. Standing there and watching those 60 minutes go by. Chances are you’ll get bored out your socks and quit in less than 10 minutes! Myself, I’d probably do the same! The funny thing about it? Even though the hours drag by so slowly, the years certainly seem to run across at unimaginably blazing speeds!

This is probably one of the things I find most annoying in our modern world: there are just too many scam artists posing as good people. This is a terrible thing because those snake oil parasites who pray on the good will of people are directly responsible for the waves of apathy that permeate us all. I mean, we would all love to trust each other unboundfully, right? But all the while, it would be unrealistic to assume that all people are trustworthy.

Well, I’m bringing this up because I’ve been reading about the so-called generational equity… which in theory sounds like a good principle, deep-rooted in common sense. But after reading some web pages about this concept, I started finding several others which claimed it’s actually a scam, and to put a long story short I’m now quite confuse and disgruntled. So, if anyone out there can provide some enlightenment on this issue, please speak your minds out freely using the comments box. That would be much appreciated!

Love is, by definition, a tricky feeling. It’s the kind of thing that can sometimes be found in the least likely places, and it’s something which isn’t always apparent. Regardless, I cannot help but feel that love is the main driving force to all human activity, even when it looks like hatred. What is hatred, if not love gone astray? Our emotions are oftentimes volatile, and our feelings of affection can be spoiled all too easily. Regardless, there are two sides to each coin, and what we see is always a matter of the perspective you choose. This picture does a wonderful job of showcasing this principle, that we shall call “the ephemerid of love”.

The commercial opens as a woman in an apartment unplugs her small red lamp. The actor then walks outside and leaves the lamp on the sidewalk next to the trash. The audience can see that the weather is wintry and pitiful music can be heard. Through the use of substitution, the director is creates an expression that requires the audience to make adjustments in order to better understand the message. This is seen in the fact that the lamp placed on the sidewalk looks strangely human and the audience is compelled to feel sorry for it. Repetition is used when it rains continuously for some time with the background music playing pitifully.

The lamp looks pitiful and sad principally due to the fact that the audience can see the actor inside the apartment warm and dry while taking pleasure in her new lamp. The use of monologue is seen when a man materializes from the darkness and speaks to the camera in a foreign sounding accent. There is also the use of destabilization through the creation of the myriad meanings. However, the man gives the real meaning when he tells the audience that….

I remember once I heard someone say something that really stuck to my mind. It was a nugget of ready-made wisdom to the effect of “Bored people are just people who can’t think of anything better to do”. I always thought this is very much true, and this is an adage that easily pops in my mind whenever I get those numbing nihilist thoughts that we all experience occasionally.

The state of being bored is just a kind of disturbance that keeps you from realizing just how amazing it feels to be alive. If you could just learn to switch off those nagging dark clouds that sometimes form unannounced, the bright sun of shining optimism would easily get through, and you’d soon get in a more upbeat state of mind. But it’s not always that easy, isn’t it? So here’s my advice to you today: Next time you’re feeling bored, just try to keep in mind that’s a boring thing to feel.

There are so many different pleasant feelings we can experience, if we only put ourselves in the right mood… why should anybody settle for boredom? This is a great thing to think about when someone is feeling bored. Because sooner that you know it, it’ll bore the hell out of you, and you won’t even remember what was getting you down just a few moments before. Let’s get smelling some sweet flowers, man!
