Why do reverse mortgages get such bad press

I have been thinking lately and also took note of the bad press that is hanging around reverse mortgage lenders like flies on the proverbial and the truth of the whole matter is that most people talk about the concept very tentatively, I cannot help but guess about whether this is because of the age of the householders involved. Even though the much more mischievous refinance corporations have been swept beneath the carpet and regarded as a less-worthy reason of debate, reverse mortgage are now fully regulated by the FSA but continuously bares loads of stigma about it.
The difference between the two? One is targeted at everybody and the other is pointed to the over 55. It is this age based aiming that, I reason, has started the bad press. Targeting the plus 55s has the identical coloring of assailability that arises with promoting unhealthy foods to kids.
What riles me is that in every other business or situation, older householders are considered the wise ones of the world.
