If you thought bird-watching was 100% nature friendly… think again!

Who’d have thought? It just goes to show that to every coin, there are always two sides – even when we fail realizing just how. You see, I’ve always been fond of watching birds, as opposed to shooting them down. And here was I thinking I was doing something for the environment by nurturing this specific mindset. I mean, you can’t hurt nature with some binoculars, right? Well, it turns out you can; apparently binoculars are manufacted in a highly un-ecological fashion, including arsenic-ridden lenses and prisms, and harmful chloride rubbers along with inks / dyes for the casing. And I don’t even have to mention the paper in the box, right? In most cases, they don’t even bother using recycled paper! Well, thankfully there are now other alternatives; and like I always say… alternative is the spice of life.
So, anyone out there who’s interested in learning about the ecological alternative to regular binoculars… just look around for the Ecobins Binocular. After all, there are subtler ways to kill a bird than using a rifle, yeah? And those binoculars you’re using to watch birds may not be shooting those specific birds down, that’s obvious… but quite possibly there are other birds elsewhere which die or get poisoned while those innocent looking binoculars are being manufactured. Consider that!
